When you walk into the ball you want to have your arms and wrists correct before you get there. In this video Gary talks about a pre-shot routine that helps you get Shape and maintain it as you walk in.

Shape and the Right Arm
This Before and After outlines how Shape and the correct right arm motion are interconnected. Gary often says the right arm does not have its own post code. This is what he means.
Why the Shape?
It’s hard to maintain correct shape into the back-swing if the “Shape” at set-up (especially the right-arm tuck) is incorrect. Many students tend to get through “the wall” at set-up. In this video Gary explains a bit more about why the “Shape” is so important.
Keep the Shape
In this Live Lesson Gary explains the reason most people come over it and their arms loop out on the downswing. This is a good lesson for anyone trying hard to shallow it out.
Throwing Shape: In around and Up
Many students struggle with taking the club in and shut early in the back-swing. This feels like it is going to make the club shallow but it actually goes steep. In this Lesson explains how to fix this motion.
Rod Pampling: Losing Shape
When you get out of Shape everything starts to feel bad! This lesson shows the importance of Hip Levels and why you have a model to go back to when things go bad.
Brad Lamb: Hold the Shape
Many students have difficulty getting inside the wrong way. In this Lesson Gary explains how increasing your Shape on the downswing can stop the club coming around.
Power in Shape
Hi Gary, I teach people and they always try to hit as far as they can and hence loose all their shapes, like I say this and that and it goes to shi”” because they just hit harder then the shape allows. Could u perhaps do some videos on exercises that build strength within the […]
Over-Shape at Set-up
I bought the Greg Norman wrist gadget from you. As you can see from the attached photo the wrist angle is so extreme that it pushes my hands forward at address to the outside of my left thigh. I can no longer get a straight line from my shoulder through my left hand and down […]
Over-Shape and the Lower
Getting over-shaped can stop the top and bottom working properly and make it difficult to cover the ball at impact. There are quite a few causes of over-shape during the swing. In this lesson Gary talks about the lower and how it really only turns from the groin area.

Faldo’s Six Follow Through’s
Nick Faldo was a great player because he could start the ball in the middle of a green and work it both ways towards the pin. When he executed the shot correctly he would be close. When he didn’t he would be in the middle of the green. In this video Gary explains how to […]
Applying the Power
Most golfers try to generate power and speed from the outside in. They try to swing the club-head fast. If you have the correct Body Shape and Arm Structure it is much easier to generate shaft speed in the right direction and from the centre outward. This means you can apply the power and still […]
Arms Lead
Players usually get in trouble in the transition when they shift or clear the body early. Having the Arms Lead is only possible if your backswing is coiled and you have Shape. Tiger had this Drill mastered in 2000 and many of Right Sided players still do it to check they are in the correct […]
Shallow Early
If you have the Shape and the Coil going back you can shallow the shaft early in the downswing. In the RSS the club comes down the right arm and around into impact. A lot of better players are steeper and have to shallow the club later. In this video Gary explains how great ball […]
The Arm Action
If you have the Body Shape right going back then the arm action coming down can be direct and more powerful. In the RSS the right arm stays below the left and the left shoulder stays high coming down. It then slots into position and is ready to get out of the way.
Match-ups and Direct Power
Good players who don’t have Shape at set-up or lose their Shape going back, usually make up this angle in transition. Most Tour Players look similar to RSS models at impact but their match-ups can be seen clearly when you slow everything down. In this new video Gary talks about Smooth Swings, Match-ups and how […]
Pressure in the Feet
A good way to tell if you are bending from the right places and have the correct Shape at set-up is by looking at the pressure in your feet. In this video Gary talks about pressure in the feet at set-up and during the swing and how you can monitor it with this simple Drill.
Draws and Fades
Most golfers hit one shape consistently and learn to navigate around the course with that shape. Some players can manufacture big hooks and cuts but the exaggerated spin is harder to align for and control. If you have good technique you can drop the ball down both ways and without changing your backswing.
Coil and Depth
Many golfers believe that flexibility issues stop them turning.Trying to lift the left heel in the backswing often causes sliding and lifting of the posture. Not many modern players lift the left heel.To coil properly and maintain the Shape of the body the lower half needs to turn from the correct area. We have just […]
