Rod Pampling fired and amazing course record 10-under-par final round at the Australian Golf Club.
He didn’t win with his six-under-finish but was delighted with winning direct entry to the British Open at Royal Troon in July.
“I was two-under (total) with a few holes to play then ‘Boom’ it was there. I really wasn’t in contention until the last two holes (birdie-eagle),” Pampling said.
“It was just a great round from there, hitting it close, putts going in, feeling relaxed.”
He said the round was a real confidence-lift heading into the Australian PGA at RACV Royal Pines which starts on the Gold Coast on Thursday.
