We are proud to announce that RSS Instructor Martin Briede has been awarded Master Professional status by the PGA of South Africa.
In order to be awarded this status PGA members must have maintained the highest degree of excellence in the participation, promotion, growth and development of the game of golf and continue to make a significant effort to improve themselves, their skills and education as golf professionals.
Martin holds a BA degree and qualified as a PGA member in 1998 after serving his apprenticeship at Royal Johannesburg Golf Club. In addition to playing on the Winter Tour he coached at the club, did a stint as Director of Golf and then became Head Coach. He now runs the Martin Briede Golf Academy and the RJ+K driving range. In addition to his “club coaching”, he runs programmes for 3 different schools, and coaches and lectures for the Balderstone Sports Institute.
Martin has run the Gauteng Special Olympics regional games and mentored the athletes since 2005 (with no reimbursement) and has been recognized for his efforts by being nominated as International Technical Delegate at the Special Olympics World Games on three occasions.
Martin is a dedicated learner and believes that self education never stops. He is a TPI level 3 specialised in Children’s coaching and has recently completed the Gary Edwin Golf Accreditation System course.
He has been recognized by the PGA by winning:
PGA Teacher of the Year in 2010
Regional Teacher of the Year in 2016 and 2017
Grow Golf Award in 2017
Runner Up Professional of the Year in 2017
Just wanted to email you to thank you all for the role you have all played in this process. I am especially thankful to Pete as his role as mentor to me in becoming the best teacher I can be, guiding me through the RSS. Also thank you to Gary for inspiring me, both when I visited and through your videos on the Website.
Kind regards
Martin
Congratulations Martin on a well deserved award!
